With an increasing interest and demand for gender affirmation surgery, it is imperative that we solve the issue of urethral stricture and fistula formation in female-to-male phalloplasty. Jason Harris @JasonHarris93 and his co-authors from Weill Cornell Medicine @WeillCornell used CAD/CAM design, 3D printing, and dissolvable polymers to create fibroblast-embedded collagen scaffolds with separate urothelial and vascular channels. These scaffolds were capable of supporting a multilayer urothelial lining up to 28 days.
