Despite the prevalence of implant-based breast reconstruction in the United States, little is known about the effect that socioeconomic factors have on patient outcomes. Irene A. Chang @1renechang and her co-authors from Case Western Reserve University @cwru_med and University Hospitals @uhhospitals_cle evaluated the effect of the comorbidity burden on health outcomes after implant-based breast reconstruction using the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project National Inpatient Sample database. She and her co-authors found an association between comorbidity burden and rate of mortality, length of hospital stay and costs.
