Surgical management of complications following primary pharyngoplasty is a complex problem faced by the cleft surgeon. Madeleine K. Bruce and her co-authors from the Department of Plastic Surgery @pittplasticsurgery at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh evaluated the indications for and outcomes following revision pharyngoplasty. She and her co-authors found that of patients who underwent secondary pharyngoplasty, nearly half required a tertiary procedure to achieve acceptable speech scores or resolve complications.
