Lower extremity fractures can lead to unexpected disability and significant economic burden. Currently there is a lack of data evaluating the impact of insurance status on patients with Gustilo-Anderson fractures. William A. Marmor (@WillMarmor) and his co-authors at Stony Brook University’s Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery examined the differences in outcomes between insured and uninsured patients with lower extremity fractures. He and his co-authors found that uninsured patients were more likely to develop infections and less likely to be discharged to a rehabilitation facility.
