Location: | Wake Forest Plastic Surgery Research Laboratory (WFPSRL), Department of Plastic Surgery, Wake Forest School of Medicine |
Description: | The WFPSRL has an opening for a highly creative and motivated postdoctoral fellow with an interest in regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, microvascular remodeling and bioreactor principles. Successful candidates will join the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
Among other areas, our group's research activities include efforts directed toward the development of novel approaches to tissue salvage, repair, replacement and/or regeneration using cell-based methods. Our laboratory employs: cell isolation, cell/tissue culture, functional in vitro cell assays, histology, Flow cytometry, molecular biology, and various rodent and porcine models. The primary project will focus on: 1. The use of bioreactors and "bottom-up"? tissue engineering strategies. 2. Understanding how perfusion impacts vasculogenesis in the setting of 3-D niche environments. 3. Adapting findings and strategies to scaled pre-clinical models of tissue repair/replacement. Requirements: The applicant must be an MD, PhD or MD/PhD graduate ideally with: Candidates should email an updated CV, complete contact information for three references and a cover letter describing their past research experience, career goals and a statement of future research interest (~ 1/2 - 1 page) to: Farren Adams: fadams@wakehealth.edu |
