Description: | The Northwestern Medicine Gender Pathways Program is offering an advanced fellow surgical training opportunity. This 12-month, non-accredited fellowship on the plastic surgery service at Northwestern Memorial Hospital offers training for the full complement of gender affirming surgery with a focus on teaching surgical technique for vaginoplasty, vulvoplasty, phalloplasty, and facial feminization surgery. The fellow will gain hands-on operative experience with these specialized cases in the operating room and participate in our program's multi-disciplinary clinic with Urology and OBGYN, giving the fellow the opportunity to learn all aspects of gender affirmation care. Additionally, the fellow will be appointed as a health system clinician in plastic surgery with their own general plastic surgery clinic and cases focused on gender-related top surgery.
Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in research projects and education of plastic surgery residents. This one-year program is available for individuals seeking additional training in gender affirming plastic surgery who have completed a U.S., board-approved training program in plastic surgery and are eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois.
