Dr. Andrea Pusic is the Director of the Patient-Reported Outcomes, Value & Experience (PROVE) Center. Her clinical focus is breast reconstruction (autologous and implant based) and aesthetic breast surgery. Dr. Pusic’s approach to care focuses on optimizing quality of life for her patients. Her philosophy is that each patient is unique, and that reconstruction should be tailored to the individual and their goals. Dr. Pusic is a leader in the field of patient-reported outcomes and surgical experience and has published over 400 papers on this topic. Her research involves developing and implementing tools to assess outcomes from the patient perspective.

Join the Peripheral Nerve Session Friday Afternoon!
Moderated By Professor Harvey Chim

As a self-professed “nerve nerd”, I get excited about the peripheral nerve sessions at all our plastic surgery meetings. While there are so many exciting developments within plastic surgery, I would like to highlight some of the recent developments in peripheral nerve that will be discussed during the “nerve” session. Certainly, one of the most exciting developments in recent years is the popularization of surgery for prevention or treatment of neuromas in amputees. There will be a number of talks discussing further advances in creation of a regenerative peripheral nerve interface (RPNI) by the group from the University of Michigan. Together with techniques focused around targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR), these techniques have allowed new and exciting options for treatment of neuropathic pain in amputee patients, further increasing the scope of plastic surgery and what we offer to patients. In my practice this has been a game changer for this underserved group of patients, with my vascular and orthopedic colleagues initially expressing skepticism but now belief in these surgeries.

PSRC's Baronio Fund was created years ago as a way to build a corpus of assets and reserves so that the Research Council may ensure the support of its mission to stimulate fundamental research and invest in projects devoted to the access, improvement, and innovation of research in the field of plastic surgery. The Baronio Fund is, by charter, an investment in the future of the organization. The greater the underlying magnitude of the Baronio Fund, greater is the PSRC's capacity to impact both the people that conduct research and the quality of research being performed in plastic surgery.
