Online Membership Applications Now AvailableTo make the process of PSRC membership application more streamlined, the Research Council has launched online membership applications, available at www.ps-rc.org/membership. Please encourage your colleagues and trainees to apply! Applications are now all-electronic, and so is the process of securing PSRC member sponsorship. As a PSRC member, you may be asked by an applicant to support his/her application. If you are asked, you will receive an email from the PSRC administrative office and instructed to confirm your support using an electronic form. Howard Levinson, MD Colleagues, I am pleased to report that 2013 is looking like a financially stable year for PSRC. It is encouraging to see that efficiencies are being applied to the Research Council with our recent transition in societal management, and that we have enacted more thorough processes for financial planning. As you know, supporting plastic surgery research is core to the PSRC mission and with efficiencies and comprehensive planning, the leadership hopes to be able to expand on its offerings to support plastic surgery research. Those of us that value research and the role it plays in our specialty also have a special place in our heart for the Research Council. PSRC’s Baronio Fund was created years ago as a way to build a corpus of assets and reserves so that the Research Council may ensure the support of its mission to stimulate fundamental research in plastic surgery. Fifty-six years ago the Plastic Surgery Research Council (PSRC) met at UCLA for the 3rd Annual Meeting. This was hosted by Dr. Bernard Sarnat who would have been 101 years old had he not died 2 years ago at the age of 99. Dr. Sarnat’s dream of again having the PSRC at UCLA was fulfilled with the 58th Annual Meeting hosted by Dr. James P. Bradley in May 2013. Read More
