Lab Facilities Stem cell research lab, molecular biology lab, histology lab, cell culture room and large and small animal facilities. Instruments include: phase contrast microscope, immunofluorescnce microscope, microinjection facility, centrifuge, spectrophotometer, gel analyzer, PCR, electrophoresis facilities, automatic tissue processor, frozen and paraffin microsection facilities. Northern blot, RT-PCR, Western blot, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry and more can be performed in laboratory.

Type of Research Tissue Engineering, wound healing, peripheral nerve regeneration and transplantation immunology. Research areas cover the construction of different tissues, molecular mechanism of cell aging, induction of immune tolerance, keloid biology, genetic modification of seed cells and gene therapy for wound healing and peripheral nerve regeneration using adenoviral and retroviral vectors.

Project Title 1) Tissue Engineering. 2) Gene Therapy for Wound Healing
Brief Description Tissue engineering projects cover both tissue construction and basic research. The former includes the engineering of bone cartilage, tendon, skin, peripheral nerve and cornea. The latter includes cell aging and prevention, induction of bone marrow stromal cells into osteoblasts and chondrocytes, the role of growth factors in cell proliferation and functions, establishment of embyonic stem cells and induction differentiation, genetic modification and immunomanipulation of seed cells. Wound healing focuses on improving healing quality of wounds by gene transfer of growth factors.
